The former leader of the PP received in 2009 about 220,000 dollars (about 160,000 euros) for advising the group that owns newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal and The Times, as well as the television networks CNBC and Fox News. Aznar received 100,000 dollars in cash (77,500 euros) and a remuneration in shares of 120,000 dollars (92,946 euros).

Aznar already has expertise in the energy sector. Since 2009 he has been a director of Doheny Global Group, a U.S. company with interests in Eastern Europe and which is managed by businessman Irwin Katsof, co-founder of a pro-Israeli group and advocate of nuclear energy. The salary he earns for this function, similar to the one he performs in the American real estate company J.E. Roberts, is unknown.

Interestingly, the former pro-nuclear president of the Executive launched last December 1 an organization called Global Adaptation Institute, a think tank to convince large institutions to solve environmental problems. The advisory board of this think tank is funded by the venture capital firm NPG Energy Capital.
